KOTA KINABALU - TAWAU VIA KENINGAU.

We drove all the way from Kota Kinabalu to Tawau via Keningau and Kalabakan for the first time 3 weeks ago.  Last year, we drove to Tawau via Lahad Datu which was a different route.
The total distance is 448 kms and it took us about 7 hours or so on non-stop driving. Thanks for the google map.

After a 53 kms drive from Kota kinabalu, we crossed the 58 kms Crocker Range road to Keningau.  It's a pleasant drive through the mountain road.
 Keningau in sight.

From Keningau, it's another 257 kms to Kalabakan passing through Sook, Nabawan and Sapulut. The driving was smooth for the first 180 kms as there was not much traffic with good roads as shown in the pictures.
Approaching Sook.
Wow! The first logging truck we encountered.
Logging truck.
The joyride was over after passing Sapulut. Many parts of the roads were damaged with very heavy traffic of logging trucks.

A one lance crossing.

Too close for comfort.
An Express bus from Tawau on the way to Kota Kinabalu.

The only small car we met.
This part of the road was OK.
 A rest area.

The worst part.

The Kalabakan "round about" - the final 90 kms to Tawau.

Good road with plenty of green - Oil palm plantations all the way to Tawau.
It was a real comfortable drive with this Toyota Camry Hybrid.
