LA HOTEL TAWAU

Last week, we drove to Tawau and put up at the LA Hotel. Located at Jalan St.Patrick, it's just a few minutes walk to the Tawau town centre. Quite convenient.
A four years old hotel, the latest in Tawau.
Clean and comfortable Deluxe room.
Basic room amenities include free coffee/tea, bottled drinking water and the bath room complete with toiletries.
View from our room
Complimentary buffet breakfast.

Room rate is ranging from RM150 - RM250 depending on room type. It's good value for money. Overall the hotel is clean and the staff are friendly. Free wi-fi is available but connection is weak and need improvement.

PAN BORNEO HIGHWAY UPDATE PENAMPANG - PAPAR

The first 15kms of dual carriage Pan Borneo highway was at the final touch and opened to traffic recently.

Work was still been done on part of the left lane.

I turned back at this 15kms point as the road work beyond was still under construction. As the weather improved, the pictures below speak for themselves.
 Heading towards Penampang

Crossing the dual carriage bridge before arriving at Penampang. It may take another 3-5 years to complete the 35kms to Papar.

2017 Cherry Blossom season in Japan is now at it's peak in many major cities of western and eastern Japan, including Tokyo an Kyoto. Millions of Japanese have been celebrating and enjoying the Spring season since end of March. Though we were not there this year, I could still share some beautiful cherry blossoms pictures taken by my Japanese friend, a few days ago at Iwatsuki Castle Park, one of the most outstanding cherry blossom sites in the prefecture Saitama.
"Thank you' to Miura san for all the awesome pictures. We should be there for the 2018 Cherry blossoms season.

WELCOME SEAFOOD RESTAURANT, KOTA KINABALU

Welcome Seafood restaurant, located just behind the newly opened Hilton Kinabalu is popular among the locals and tourists.
It can accommodate at least 300 people in both open-air and air-condition indoor dining.
As this restaurant is best known for its seafood, it's definitely recommended for visitors.

There is a wide selection of live seafood such as scallops, fish, clams, lobsters, prawns and etc, etc. However, price is expensive compared to other places in the city. Diners can order their choice of the fresh seafood from the "tanks area".

Some of the seafood on display.

Last week, we had a birthday celebration in this restaurant and I found that the food served was  superb.
Deep fried soft shell crabs.
Flower crabs with salted egg.
Fried squids in salt and pepper.
Steamed prawns.
The popular steamed"Gong-gong".

It's recommended to make a booking in advance as this place is always packed with tourists, It would be best to dine between 7pm to 8pm. Service is average, probably due to the crowd. Seriously, the food is delicious but quite expensive.
