SUVARNABHUMI AIRPORT - PATHUMWAN PRINCESS HOTEL

Our B737-400 aircraft was parked next to the KLM Jumbo at the Suvarnabhumi airport. Majority of the carriers operating here are using wide body aircrafts. Perhaps, Malaysia Airlines should do the same to increase their market share and maximize their earning.
This is our first time using this terminal - all facilities looked new with escalator walkway leading all the way to the the C.I.Q. area. It took us about 10 minutes to reach the Immigration check-points. Immigration clearance was a disappointment - not user friendly. Foreigners were to clear through the designated "Foreign passport" counters whereas Thai nationals were to clear at "Thai passport" (local) counters. There were long queues on our side whereas the local counters were almost empty. An Immigration lady was directing the flow of passengers in that area and she was giving priority to most of the "orang putih" (white people) to have their passports cleared at local counters. I was a bit impatient and asked her if we could clear our passports there too, she put on a sour face and flatly said "NO". I noticed that she continued to allow the "orang putih" to use the local counters and ignored those "non-white" who arrived behind us . I think this was a clear discrimination against races . Official like her shouldn't be assigned there.
There was no Customs check as we passed through the Green lane. The hotel's limo driver met us with his "Thai smile". The drive was about 40 minutes to our hotel, Pathauwan Princess. The receptionist attending to us was courteous and prompt. In less than 5 minutes, were were in our room. We were given a room on the 15th floor - a spacious, modern, well decorated and well maintained room. The amenities in the bath room were OK except there were no tooth brushes provided like most hotels in the region. From our room, we could see the Siam Square area. We were ready to relax and enjoy the Thai hospitality here.
