A DAY OF SHOPPING

Shopping was convenient as the Pathaumwan Princess hotel is adjacent to the MBK mall which is one of the biggest shopping centre in Bangkok situated near Siam square and Siam Paragon. According to the brochure, MBK is a legendary shopping mall, popular with both tourists and locals. The eight floors are packed with more than 2,000 shops and stalls that sell everything from clothing, fashion accessories, handbags, leather products and luggage to furniture, mobile phones, electric appliances, cameras, stationery and etc etc. We went over to the mall just after 10:00 AM. Most of the shops were already opened for business. There are at least three escalators connecting each floor.Shopping in MBK was reasonable and fun as almost everything could be bargained. The sales ladies were very friendly and entertaining. Believe it or not, for USD299 or approx; RM900, one could have 2 suits, pants, shirts and ties tailored made in 8 hours.
Going around I found that the items sold in MBK were not the upmarket product as compared to the Siam Discovery or the Siam Centre, but they have all kinds of less expensive goods spread over the floors. There were a good selection goods at give-away prices. Just like in the market, the prices in the shops are negotiable. MBK is probably the only mall in Bangkok where you can put your bargaining skills to the test. We were surprised how much a big smile and a joke or two could knock off the original asking price by 25-35%. The display of various products along the walkways.
99 baht or approx; RM10 each for these T-shirts. Colourful Thai boxer' shorts. With their permission, these friendly stalls owners posed for me.
The Birds' nest shop.

We came across a "Mister Doughnut" which was one of our favourite place for coffee + doughnut break.
We had coffee there before returning to our hotel. It was a tiring day walking through almost all the floors.
