OLD TOWN WHITE COFFEE

The Old Town white coffee was established in 1999 and to day, it is the largest coffee shop chain in Malaysia with more than 200 outlets. They have also outlets in Singapore and Indonesia.

The Old Town’s special brew was created in 1958 and served in an ordinary coffee shop in Ipoh. The owner, inspired with a vision and the passion to make and serve fine coffee, created a secret White Coffee blend.

He began serving this unique White Coffee to the residents of Ipoh. This aromatic white coffee soon gained popularity. The unique taste of the white coffee was later spread to other  Malaysian towns. Beside white coffee, their outlets offer a variety of local Malaysian dishes from the simple "Kaya toasted bread" to all kinds of Malaysian spicy meals, like "Nasi Lemak", curry and noodles.

Last week, we checked out one of their outlets near Karamunsing complex. It was a Sunday evening but surprisingly, the place was not crowded.

"Curry Laksa" noodles

All the dishes were well-presented but the taste was not that great. However, I must say that the coffee was very good. Price wise, it's a bit expensive compared to the ordinary "kopitiam" (Malaysian coffee shop). In my opinion, Old Town outlets caters for customers who are in the higher income group.
