ESCAPE TO AUSTRALIA - THE RAINBOW LORIKEET
Rainbow Lorikeet is one my favourite Australian parrots. I never miss watching these beautiful birds on every visit to Brisbane. They have wonderful striking colours like a living rainbow with green, blue, purple, red, orange and yellow. During this trip, I spent half a day watching these birds and some of them were quite tame. I had the opportunity to snap their close-up pictures. They spend a lot of time feeding on flowers, pollen, nectar, blossoms from berries and fruits. These beautiful birds are abundant in Australia and the Australian Government has listed them as pests because of the damage they have done to fruit trees. They could ruin 70 to 90 percent of fruit crops when they decided to feed on them. They are also noisy and aggressive birds when come to food and usually take over feeding grounds for other birds. Believe it or not, there is now a penalty for letting a pet Rainbow Lorikeet go free in Australia.
