It's the peak of the fruit season in Sabah this August. The city markets and along the roads to countryside have been flooded with durains, rambutans, taraps, mangosteens, langsats, and duku. Prices are much cheaper than the previous 2 years.
A fruit stall at a kampung's roadside.
Durians - from RM5 per KG.
The popular "jungle durians"
Durians, like "D24", "Musang king" and various types of mixed breed ones are popular, however, my favourite is still the "kampung" durians.
These are a kind of rambutans without hairy skin.
Taraps ranging from RM2.00 to RM5.00 per fruit.
Sweet mangosteens from RM3 to RM4 per KG.
The "duku".
The peak fruit season will end some time at the end of August or otherwise on first week of September.
