KUNDASANG - 2 YEARS AFTER THE EARTHQUAKE

From Mt.Kinabalu park, we continued our drive to Kundasang, some 6.5 km away. It took us about 11 minutes to get there.
Approaching Kundasang town
Mt.Kinabalu Heritage Resort and SPA (formally the Persaka Hotel) situated atop a hill approximately 5,000 feet above sea level providing a commanding view of the majestic Mt, Kinabalu. On a good day, the panoramic view of Mountain offers a breathtaking view from viewing point of the resort.
Mt.Kinabalu viewing point located near the hotel's garden.
That afternoon, we could not see Mt.Kinabalu from there because of the misty weather.
The Heritage resort has 12 units of chalets built amidst the pine trees accessible through the hanging bridge from the main hotel building.
From the hotel we moved to Mesilau area passing the roundabout.
A steep descend to the valley.
A holiday lodge
From the valley, it's all the way uphill.
The Desa Cattle farm.

As heavy rain clouds were looming on the horizon in Mesilau resort area, we decided to back-track to Kundasang.
U-turn back to the valley
From Kundasang, we headed for home
From a distance, the mist was seen moving in.
It was misty most of the way.
Arriving Kota kinabalu as sun was setting in the rain.

It was a good outing to visit Mt. Kinabalu park and Kundasang area in a lapse of more than two years after the earthquake. There were no significant damage around the areas except for some landslides still under repair and maintenance along the road.

MT. KINABALU PARK - 2 YEARS AFTER THE EARTHQUAKE

On 05 June 2015, a powerful magnitude-6.0 earthquake struck Mt.Kinabalu and the surrounding area, cracking roads and buildings and killing 18 climbers. We have not been driving there since then. Last Sunday, we took a drive to Mt. Kinabalu Park for a short break.
It's a beautiful morning as we were leaving home
Crossing the half completed "flyover" at Inanam junction.
  Approaching the Tampuruli river.
From Tampuruli, it's all the way uphill.
It's still a leisure drive from there on, but the condition of the road was not like what it was some 2 years ago. Many parts of the damaged road are still under heavy maintenance.
Arriving the local Nabalu market.
On a clear day, visitors could enjoy the great view of the majestic Mt. Kinabalu from the Nabalu's view point. Last Sunday, it was otherwise.
It's now 30 cents for a "Toilet break" at Nabalu.
From Nabalu, it's another 12 km to Mt. Kinabalu Park. There were heavy maintenance works along  this stretch.
A waterfall just some km before the Park.
It was raining when we arrived the Park.
  Visibility was below 50 meters.
We had out lunch at the "Liwagu" restaurant.
The ever popular "Nasi Lemak" and "Nasi Kumpung goreng"

We stayed for coffee after lunch and moved on to Kudasang market, hopefully to catch a glimpse of the mountain - to continue.

CAFE IN TONG HING SUPERMARKET KOTA KINABALU

Having heard so much about the Cafe of Tong Hing Supermarket in Gaya street, we decided to check out their menu last Sunday's evening. It's a high end cafe serving breakfast, lunch and dinner with a wide selection of Malaysian and Western dishes. Pricing wise, it's above average.

Located at 55 Gaya Street in the city.

This cafe also serve beverages like Mocha, Cappuccino, Latte, long or short black, English tea and wines.
The Curry chicken rice and Lasagna were not too bad. Nice presentation! Service provided was extremely professional. Foreign tourists especially Westerners will definitely love this place.
Before leaving, we bought this RM9.90 cereals mixed grains bread (Sugar free)from their bread corner.
