My daughter arrived in Nairobi to join me for the Kenya Safari tour. The local tour operator provided us with a Nissan van and a driver cum guide for our 9 days tour. Our first destination was Masai Mara which is about 255 km from Nairobi. It took us 5 hours + to reach the Mara Siana Springs Intrepids camp.

The last 58 km was very rough - bumpy and dusty !

There are a total of 39 safari tents at Siana Springs Intrepids camp. We were allocated to this mosquito proof tent equipped with 2 comfortable single beds, wardrobe, desk, en suite bathroom with shower, sink and flush toilet. Electric supply was from 18:00-23:00 and 05:00-10:00.
Later in the afternoon, we went for a game drive in the Masai Mara National Reserve, an area covering about 1,500 square km.
Our first encounter was this pair of Egyptian Goose family.
Beautiful Guinea fowls
The Impala, a medium-sized African antelopes.
We came across one of the big five of Africa, a small herd of buffaloes as we drove further inland.
The leader of the herd.
Warthog, a tough and sturdy animal in Africa.
A small group of Impalas
Thomson's Gazelle
A lone Zebra
The world's largest bird - this one has a pair of powerful long legs.
Topi antelopes
Zooming with my camera, I found a man walking alone in the wilderness. The driver told us that he was a "Maasai", probably looking for his lost cattle or sheep. He had only a stick to defend himself from any predator.
We ended our game drive just before 18:30 - a bit disappointed as I could only see one of the big five of Africa - the buffalo. The other four, the lion, leopard, elephant or rhino were missing. As we would be staying in Masai Mara for the next 3 nights, I believed we we should be able to see them on the next few game drives.
The Camp's restaurant.
It's Western style dinner. They served a complete dinner set with salad, soup, main course, dessert followed by coffee or tea.
