THE NEW LIVERY OF MALAYSIA AIRLINES A380

Yesterday, Malaysia Airlines unveiled the new special livery of their flagship aircraft A380. This aircarft is now ready to operate their first Kuala Lumpur-London flight on 01 July 2012.

 9M-MNA with the special livery.
The same 9M-MNA landed KLIA on 30May 2012 with a boring plain white image.

Malaysia Airlines’s aircrafts are known for their distinctive colours - blue, white and red combination. However, according to the report,  this new livery was designed by Malaysia Airlines specifically for their A380 flagship.
It's a complete change from their proposed livery for the A380. In my opinion, the striking tradtional red and blue kite on the tail should be maintained instead of the the plain blue one.

Good luck to Malaysia Airlines! Hopefully, they can return to their glory days and be profitable with the operation of their brand new fleet of A380 flagship.

A DATE TO REMEMBER - OUR ANNIVERSARY

"21 June", a very important date for me and my family. It's the date of our wedding anniversary. This year, we celebrated with a delightful Japanese dinner at Nagisa in Hyatt Regency Kinabalu.
 The side dishes.
 Unagi-ju as our main course.
My son, from Melbourne joined us while our daughter sent her greeting as she could not make it due to work commitment in Brisbane.
A "Pandan" cake, baked by my wife to mark the occassion.
A simple day but an important date to remember.

COLOURFUL PARKS IN TOKYO.

Spring time in Japan is always colourful and fascinating. "Sakura"(Cherry blossom)season in early April followed by many other colourful flowers, like the Azalea, Hydrangeas and many others.
This picture of the "Sakura' in full bloom was taken on the first week of April in the Iwatsuki Castle park, Tokyo.
The landscape changed to green as the "Sakura" (Cherry blossom) disappeared on the 3rd week of April.
While another popular park, "Rikugien" (六義園) is now bursting with red "Azalea"
The lake garden view of "Rikugien".

Hydrangeas are now in season. The best park to view them is at Hondoji (本土寺)Tokyo. There are various types of Hydrangeas, like lacecaps, oakleaf and annabelle to please the eyes.

In Hondoji, there is a superb Iris garden. The best time to view irises is from mid June to early July.

A big "Thank you" to Miura san for providing me with the beautiful pictures. Please enjoy!

TERROR IN THE SKY

Thunderstorm struck Kota Kinabalu at noon and generated gusty winds and heavy rain, a few days back. The sky was filled with squall lines and the formation of the clouds were spectacular. Pictures taken were widely circulated in facebook.
The above cloud formation assembled the image of a "dragon" zooming down from the sky. The storm had created havoc in some parts of the city but fortunately, no serious damage.

THAI DINNER FOR TWO

We decided to have our dinner at "Nok Thai" restaurant this evening. It's been quite a while  since we last eat out at a Thai restaurant.
The shop's special - yam tidbits

There so many choices in the menu - I was not too sure what to order since there were only two of us. I left it to my wife to order her favourite Thai dishes.
The spicy green papaya salad.
Thai fish cakes with Thai sweet chili sauce.
 Green Thai curry, my favourite.
Fragrant and tasty pandan chicken.
Pineapple fried rice, the signature dish of this restaurant.
Nok Thai is a small and cosy restaurant which can accommodate about 50-60 people.
Located at Block D, Damai, Phase 4, this Nok Thai is one of the two restaurants in the city with reasonable pricing. Definitely, a good and quite place to enjoy dinner.

FIRST MALAYSIA AIRLINES' A380 LANDED AT KLIA

Malaysia Airlines has taken the delivery of their first A380 (9M-MNA) in Toulouse and landed  at KLIA at 15:55 on 30 May 2012.
The new "big bird" approaching KLIA.

The A380 is the world's largest and most eco-efficient aircraft. Malaysia Airlines' A380 is powered by Rolls-Royce Trent 900 engines and featuring a premium 3-class layout accommodating 494 passengers.
First and Business class are fixed with fully flat beds while Economy class has the new and wider seats. All seats are equipped with the latest individual inflight entertainment systems, USB ports and satellite telephone facilities.

This super jumbo will initially operate thrice-weekly Kuala Lumpur-London route beginning 01 July and later daily when the second A380 is delivered in August. The third A380 will be deployed to the Kuala Lumpur-Sydney route. Malaysia Airlines has ordered a total of six A380.

With A380 in the fleet, I hope Malaysia Airlines will be able to reinforce their position as one of the preferred premium carriers and return to their glory days.

I wonder why the paint work of the new aircraft is so plain and boring. Where are the flares and the red-blue trademark kite which are featured in their A330 and B737?
The livery of the A330.

Good luck and all the best to Malaysia Airlines.
